92_SB0037eng SB37 Engrossed LRB9201533RCcd 1 AN ACT concerning criminal law. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by 5 adding Section 24-3.6 as follows: 6 (720 ILCS 5/24-3.6 new) 7 Sec. 24-3.6. Unlawful use of a firearm in the shape of a 8 wireless telephone. 9 (a) For the purposes of this Section, "wireless 10 telephone" means a device that is capable of transmitting or 11 receiving telephonic communications without a wire connecting 12 the device to the telephone network. 13 (b) A person commits the offense of unlawful use of a 14 firearm in the shape of a wireless telephone when he or she 15 manufactures, sells, transfers, purchases, possesses, or 16 carries a firearm shaped or designed to appear as a wireless 17 telephone. 18 (c) This Section does not apply to or affect the sale to 19 or possession of a firearm in the shape of a wireless 20 telephone by a peace officer. 21 (d) Sentence. Unlawful use of a firearm in the shape of 22 a wireless telephone is a Class 4 felony.
