Amend Senate Bill 24 on page 2, by 3 replacing line 29 with the following: 4 "(b) The General Assembly finds that Illinois has long 5 made a commitment to strengthening and preserving the 6 integrity of marriage, safeguarding family relationships, and 7 fostering a lifelong commitment of married couples who are 8 married as authorized under the Illinois Marriage and 9 Dissolution of Marriage Act, that the fundamental unit of the 10 family is the marital relationship between a man and a woman 11 licensed, solemnized, and registered and not otherwise 12 prohibited in this Act, and that strengthening that 13 relationship can in turn benefit the families of Illinois, 14 their children, and their communities. This amendatory Act of 15 the 92nd General Assembly, therefore, is an effort to 16 encourage the learning and application of relationship skills 17 by engaged couples so that their marriage can be stronger. 18 If the parties to a prospective marriage submit to"; and 19 on page 3, by replacing lines 13 and 14 with the following: 20 "hours focusing generally on relationship skills; there shall 21 be no State-prescribed curriculum. The pre-marital education 22 program shall be conducted by a behavioral".
