1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to recognize milestone events in the
4 lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Denise Pierce
6 is retiring from an outstanding 23-year career with the
7 Illinois House of Representatives; and
8 WHEREAS, Denise Pierce began her career with the
9 Republican Research & Appropriation Staff in 1979 as a
10 receptionist and was promoted to Senior Secretary in 1980;
11 she served as a receptionist for House Speaker George Ryan in
12 1981 and became Administrative Assistant and "gatekeeper" to
13 House Republican Leader Lee A. Daniels in 1983; she is
14 retiring as Director of Operations, overseeing the House
15 Republican staff budget and fiscal operations, the
16 secretarial staff, and computer analysts; and
17 WHEREAS, All Republican representatives were well aware
18 that Denise was the one to go to in order to make their lives
19 easier...getting the big office with the view, the secretary
20 who could type without errors, and the parking spot closest
21 to the door; and
22 WHEREAS, Denise Pierce always put her dedication to her
23 job and to the people of Illinois first; she has accepted a
24 broad range of duties that led to many promotions; she is
25 firm yet compassionate with her employees; and
26 WHEREAS, Often teased for her perfectionist ways, Denise
27 Pierce was always ready on the spur of the moment to do
28 whatever was needed; and
29 WHEREAS, In her free time, Denise Pierce enjoys
30 traveling, cooking, and entertaining; and

1 WHEREAS, Denise Pierce's dedication, compassion, and
2 presence on the House Republican Staff will be missed by all
3 who knew her; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6 we congratulate Denise Pierce on her retirement after a
7 23-year career with the Illinois House of Representatives,
8 and we wish her well in all of her future endeavors; and be
9 it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Denise Pierce as an expression of our esteem.
