92_HR1147 LRB9218404KFkfA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize Illinois citizens 4 who have distinguished themselves in service to their 5 community and this State; and 6 WHEREAS, Kathryn "Kitty" Ann Shores is a dedicated public 7 servant who has devoted more than two decades to serving the 8 people of Illinois; she has announced her retirement as 9 Executive Secretary for the House Republican Leader; and 10 WHEREAS, Kitty began in November of 1980 as a legislative 11 secretary for Representative Ben Polk; at one point she left 12 Republican staff to take a position with the Illinois 13 Department of Public Aid; she returned to Republican staff in 14 March of 1986 as the Leader's Executive Secretary; and 15 WHEREAS, She has worked with the Leader on appointing 16 members to commissions to address critical issues; she has 17 also run the day-to-day operations of the office, keeping 18 track of staff attendance, keys and equipment maintenance; 19 she was the one to call when something went wrong; and 20 WHEREAS, Her secretarial skills were always superb and 21 she was a fanatic on format and doing it by the book; she 22 often gets praised for her work and credits Betty Hoffman, 23 her Business Teacher at Ashland High School; and 24 WHEREAS, Kitty has given 110% to House Republicans and to 25 the people of Illinois; her no-nonsense, tell it like it is 26 attitude has helped to keep everyone in line; she has truly 27 been a credit to this organization; her small-town warmth 28 attracted people to her when they needed guidance, and she 29 has been dubbed "Mama Kitty" by her co-workers; and 30 WHEREAS, Her wonderful sense of humor and appreciation 31 for building and sustaining relations with others have made -2- LRB9218404KFkfA 1 her a friend to all; she will be deeply missed; and 2 WHEREAS, After retiring, she plans to spend time with her 3 daughter, Sali Ann, her boyfriend, Bud Dietsch, and more time 4 fishing, restoring old furniture, and baking pies for her 5 friend's restaurant; therefore, be it 6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 7 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 8 we congratulate Kitty Shores on her retirement and thank her 9 for many years of exemplary public service; we wish her well 10 in all of her future endeavors and extend our sincere best 11 wishes to her for health and happiness in the future; and be 12 it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to Kitty Shores as an expression of our respect and 15 esteem.
