1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize significant
4 accomplishments in high school sports in the State of
5 Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, On November 9, 2002, the Carl Sandburg Boys
7 Varsity Soccer Team, the Eagles, won the IHSA State Class AA
8 Soccer Championship; and
9 WHEREAS, The Eagles finished the season with a record of
10 26-1-2, and they were the champions of the SICA West
11 Conference, the Naperville Tournament, the Glenbard West
12 Tournament, and the IHSA Regionals and Sectionals; and
13 WHEREAS, The team members are Cole Glassner, Brad Nagel,
14 Paul Boyle, Dan Peterson, Greg Olmsted, Mike Piazza, John
15 Partyka, Colin Aubin, Angelo Labriola, Al Duncan, Scott
16 Kupiec, Tim Engel, Nick Anello, Brian Pasierb, Andrea Frigo,
17 Zac Buikema, Nick Kwiatek, Kevin Kuhn, Steve Mulac, Brett
18 Falloon, Matt Nagel, Jed Zayner, Tim Kopec, Matt
19 Mergenthaler, Paul Kopec, Dom Didiana, Jay Swiderski, Jesse
20 Furmanek, and Mike Nejedly; their coach is Jack Ferraro; the
21 assistant coaches are Jim Pisani, Pete Knutson, Mike Erdman,
22 and Dan Olsen; the trainers are Bill Frey and John Wator and
23 the student trainers are Linda Sullivan and Eileen
24 Niedeborski; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate the Carl Sandburg Boys Varsity Soccer Team on
28 winning the 2002 IHSA State Class AA Soccer Championship and
29 we extend our best wishes to the coaches and the team for
30 continued success in the future; and be it further
31 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be

1 presented to Dr. Patrick McMahon, Superintendent of
2 Consolidated High School District 230, Mike Mecozzi,
3 principal of Carl Sandburg High School, head coach Jack
4 Ferraro, assistant coaches Jim Pisani, Pete Knutson, Mike
5 Erdman, and Dan Olson, and each member of the team as an
6 expression of our esteem.
