92_HR1091 LRB9217937KFkf 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to recognize milestone events in the 4 lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Willie A. 6 Naylor has retired as a music schoolteacher after 38 years of 7 dedicated service, including 34 years of proud service with 8 the Chicago Public School System; and 9 WHEREAS, Willie A. Naylor was born on February 16, 1942 10 in Holly Ridge, Louisiana; he was raised in a Christian home 11 with loving parents who taught him to be persistent, 12 diligent, and to always persevere; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Naylor received a Bachelor of Science degree 14 from Grambling College in 1963, a Bachelor of Arts from 15 Chicago's Vander Cook College in 1967, and a Ph.D. from the 16 University of Sarasota in 1977; after teaching in Louisiana 17 for four years, he relocated to Chicago to teach in the 18 Chicago Public School System; and 19 WHEREAS, Mr. Naylor has been privileged to teach many 20 famous musical icons such as Michael and Marlon Jackson of 21 the Jackson 5 and Maurice White of Earth, Wind, and Fire, 22 just to name a few; and 23 WHEREAS, Mr. Naylor has received numerous awards and 24 recognitions throughout his illustrious teaching career and 25 has received high praise for his outstanding and unique 26 musical teaching abilities; he is now recognized as one of 27 the most highly regarded music instructors in Region #5 28 School history; and 29 WHEREAS, On September 27, 2002, the family of Willie A. 30 Naylor is giving him a surprise retirement party in honor of 31 his 38-year career and commitment to shaping and molding the -2- LRB9217937KFkf 1 lives of his many students in the Chicago Public School 2 System; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we congratulate Willie A. Naylor on his retirement after an 6 outstanding 38 year career as a music instructor and we wish 7 him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 9 presented to Willie A. Naylor as an expression of our esteem.
