92_HR1084 LRB9217558RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to express their sincerest condolences 4 to the family and friends of Steve Trimble, who passed away 5 on May 13, 2002; and 6 WHEREAS, Steve Trimble was born on May 29, 1923 in 7 Birmingham, Alabama to Steven and Rebecca Trimble; and 8 WHEREAS, The Trimble's moved to Chicago when Steve was 9 young; he attended and completed Carter Elementary and 10 graduated from DuSable High School; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Trimble worked as a Salesman for Monroe 12 Merchandising and Polk Brothers for many years; and 13 WHEREAS, One of Mr. Trimble's childhood friends was Red 14 Foxx; he and Mr. Foxx traveled to New York to enter in the 15 Major Bowles Amateur Hour, where they won first place; Mr. 16 Trimble was part of an awesome quartet group of entertainers 17 who included Pete Carter, Lamont Ousley, and Red Foxx; and 18 WHEREAS, Mr. Trimble was a violinist and played the bass; 19 he was one of the southside's finest Jazz musicians; in 1999, 20 he released a CD celebrating over 60 years as a musician 21 entitled "Keep on Smiling!"; all this began with a young man 22 playing a "Wash Tub on a String" accompanied by his friends 23 and fellow musicians Sonny Seals, Marion Burke, Jr., John 24 Whitfield, Jr., John Watson, and Charles "Bugs" Cockran; and 25 WHEREAS, Steve Trimble had many special people in his 26 life; from his marriage to Dorothy Hartwell, they were 27 blessed with a daughter, Cecelia Isom; from his marriage to 28 Ernestine, they were blessed with a son, Steve, Jr.; and 29 WHEREAS, Mr. Trimble was the loving and devoted husband 30 to Mildred Trimble for 25 years; and -2- LRB9217558RHrh 1 WHEREAS, For the past 28 years, Mr. Trimble served 2 faithfully as the doorman for the 28 North Lake Shore 3 Building; he was loved, respected, and endeared for his work; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, The passing of Steve Trimble will be deeply felt 6 by all who knew and loved him, especially his niece, Helen 7 Rathel; his daughter and granddaughter, Cecelia and Tammy 8 Isom; his son, Steve Trimble, Jr.; his grandchildren; his 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and 10 friends; therefore, be it 11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 12 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 13 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Steve 14 Trimble of Chicago; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 16 presented to the family of Steve Trimble with our sincere 17 condolences.
