92_HR1071 LRB9217114BHbh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are proud to congratulate Andrew F. "Rookie" 4 Brown of Chicago, who is retiring after forty-two years of 5 public service employment; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown will finish his career as District 7 Manager of the Department of Human Services in the City of 8 Chicago at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service 9 Center; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown opened the Dr. King Center as the 11 first Community Administrator in 1975; he also served as 12 Community Administrator/District Manager at the Woodlawn, 13 Mid-South, Englewood, and Garfield Centers; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown began his public service career as a 15 teacher with the Chicago Public Schools; from teaching, he 16 went to Youth Welfare, the Chicago Committee on Urban 17 Opportunity, Model Cities, and lastly the Department of Human 18 Services; and 19 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown is married and is the father of two 20 adult children; he is also the grandfather of one recently 21 born grandson; and 22 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown graduated from Knoxville College; he 23 is an avid sportsman and played college and semi-pro 24 basketball; his nickname, "Rookie", was given to him during 25 his high school years; therefore, be it 26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 27 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 28 we congratulate Andrew F. "Rookie" Brown on his retirement 29 and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it 30 further -2- LRB9217114BHbh 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to Andrew F. Brown as an expression of our esteem.
