92_HR1061 LRB9217891KFkf 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to honor Les Elam on his retirement from 4 A. E. Staley/Tate & Lyle on October 1, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Elam was born on May 10, 1947; he graduated 6 from Niantic High School in 1965; he married Shirley Bundy on 7 June 10, 1966 and they are the proud parents of Julie C. 8 Gundy and Kenneth J. Elam and the proud grandparents of T. J. 9 Gundy, Casey Ruth Elam, Zack Elam, and Travis Elam; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Elam he served his country in the Army Air 11 Corps from July 20, 1966 to July 25, 1969; he was an SP5 and 12 served a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968 repairing 13 helicopter instruments; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. Elam began his employment at A. E. 15 Staley/Tate & Lyle on July 21, 1965; he is currently a sheet 16 metal mechanic; he has been on the Bargaining Committee with 17 the Pace Local #6837 for the last 5 years; and 18 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Elam belonged to the Early Idlers 19 Car Club for ten years and they owned a 1937 Plymouth Coupe; 20 he plans to do gardening when he retires; therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 22 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 23 we honor Les Elam for his many years of hard work and 24 dedication and we join his family and friends in wishing him 25 well in his retirement and his future endeavors; and be it 26 further 27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 28 presented to Les Elam as an expression of our esteem.
