92_HR1041 LRB9217657JSpc 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this House take great pleasure in 3 recognizing the achievements and contributions of citizens of 4 Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Each year, the Riverside Township Chamber of 6 Commerce and the Riverside Township Lions Club honor a person 7 who has made significant contributions to the community; and 8 WHEREAS, Riverside Day, an event honoring a very special 9 person who has contributed much time and expertise to help 10 the people of the Township and Village of Riverside, will be 11 held on August 28, 2002; and 12 WHEREAS, This year Riverside Day will honor Bill Scanlon 13 as the Person of the Year 2002; and 14 WHEREAS, Bill Scanlon and his wife, Maripat, have lived 15 in Riverside for 34 years, are the parents of Jacqui, 16 Courtenay, Alyson and Blake, and are the grandparents of 5 17 grandchildren; and 18 WHEREAS, Bill Scanlon is currently the President of the 19 Riverside Community Fund, Vice-President of the Riverside 20 Township Lions Club, Chairman of the Riverside Economic 21 Development Commission, and a member of the Board of 22 Directors of the Olmsted Society; and 23 WHEREAS, Because of his belief in voluntarism, Bill 24 Scanlon intends to accept the Person of the Year Award on 25 behalf of all who volunteer their time and energy to make 26 their community a better place; therefore, be it 27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY- 28 SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 29 commend Bill Scanlon for his outstanding contributions to 30 society and civic life; and be it further -2- LRB9217657JSpc 1 RESOLVED, That we join with the Riverside Township 2 Chamber of Commerce and the Riverside Township Lions Club in 3 honoring Bill Scanlon for his unselfish service and 4 enthusiastic support of community activities; and be it 5 further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to Bill Scanlon, Riverside Person of the Year, 8 2002, as a token of our high praise.
