92_HR1032 LRB9217426BHbh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Glen W. 4 Braden of Sullivan, who passed away May 8, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Braden was born in Saline County near 6 Raleigh, Illinois; he was the son of Silas and Ollie Bishop 7 Braden; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Braden was a Navy veteran of World War II 9 and was in law enforcement for 38 years; he was elected to 10 five terms as Sheriff of Moultrie County and also served as a 11 Deputy Sheriff, a police officer for the City of Sullivan, 12 and as Chief of Police; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Braden worked for the State of Illinois in 14 the Public Safety and Corrections Departments and for the 15 Federal Bureau of Investigation; he was a graduate of the 16 F.B.I. Academy; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Braden was a lifetime member of the George 18 A. Sentel Masonic Lodge #764 of Sullivan and was a 32nd 19 Degree Mason; he was a lifetime member of the Sheriff's 20 Association, Railsplitter Division National Academy of 21 Illinois, and the First Christian Church of Sullivan; he was 22 a member of the American Legion Post #68 in Sullivan for over 23 50 years; and 24 WHEREAS, Mr. Braden married LaVerne Leavell December 5, 25 1953, in Shelbyville; and 26 WHEREAS, Mr. Braden will be deeply missed by all those 27 who knew him and loved him, especially his wife, LaVerne; his 28 sons, Gary M.(Donna) Braden and Jan (Cindy) Braden; his 29 daughters, Jackie (Bob) Ungerecht and Glenda (Chuck) Ray; his 30 granddaughters, Hillary Denier, Katy Black, Stephanie 31 (Derick) Carter, Valerie (Brian) Easton, Julie Ungerecht, -2- LRB9217426BHbh 1 Toni (Rob) Hails, and Jenny (James) Martin; his grandsons, 2 Craig Black, Greg (Tasha) Braden, Eric (Mitzi) Ungerecht, and 3 John (Elaine) Ungerecht; and his 17 great-grandchildren; 4 therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 6 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 7 we mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of 8 Glen Braden; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to the family of Glen Braden with our sincere 11 condolences.
