92_HR1012 LRB9217098BHbh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jesse 4 C. "J.C." Griffin of Chicago, who passed away on June 2, 5 2002; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was born on May 11, 1940, in 7 Clarksdale, Mississippi; he was the oldest of three children 8 born to Robert D. and Ruby (Spanks) Griffin; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin moved with his family to Chicago at 10 the age of 3 and established residence in the Princeton Park 11 Homes at 221 W. 93rd Place; upon readiness the family moved 12 into a new unit located at 9127 S. Stewart; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin attended Gillespie Elementary School 14 and completed his education at Calumet High School; an 15 accomplished athlete, Mr. Griffin distinguished himself as a 16 stellar baseball player; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin had a strong work ethic and began 18 working at the age of 10; his experience included work for 19 the Princeton Park Homes, Burlington Railroad, and Central 20 Soya, ADM; he spent the last 15 years with the Freund Can 21 Company; and 22 WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was baptized and confirmed at 23 Resurrection Lutheran Church where he was an active member; 24 he served on various committees including the District 8 25 committee and the usher board, which brought him great joy; 26 and 27 WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin will be deeply missed by all those 28 who knew him and loved him, especially his wife, Nadyne; his 29 adoring daughter, Mia; his loving mother-in-law, Adele 30 Grayson; his favorite brothers-in-law, John Jr. (Stephanie), 31 Lester, and Phillip Grayson; his special aunt, Thelma -2- LRB9217098BHbh 1 (William) Boyd; his sister, Laverne Jordan; and his nieces, 2 nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we mourn, along with all those who knew him and loved him, 6 the death of Jesse C. "J.C." Griffin; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to the family of Mr. Griffin with our sincere 9 condolences.
