92_HR0938 LRB9216906RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representative are pleased to recognize notable achievements 4 in high school sports; and 5 WHEREAS, The Victor J. Andrew High School Girls Varsity 6 Badminton Team from Tinley Park, the Thunderbolts, won their 7 third consecutive title at the 2002 IHSA State Girls 8 Badminton Championship on May 11, 2002 in Winnetka; and 9 WHEREAS, The Thunderbolts met the challenge by defeating 10 Downers Grove North by one-half point (14 to 13 1/2) to claim 11 its third straight State title; and 12 WHEREAS, The State Badminton title is the fifth in school 13 history; the Thunderbolts also won the crown in 1983 and 14 1994; and 15 WHEREAS, In addition to their State title, the 16 Thunderbolts were also victorious at the Palatine 17 Invitational, the New Trier Featherfest, and the Evanston 18 Invitational; and they won the SICA Conference Championship 19 and the Sectional Championship; and 20 WHEREAS, The members of the Thunderbolts include Marissa 21 Betley, Allison Betley, Tiffany Wright, Kim Buzecky, Natalie 22 Hundt, Carlie VanBruggen, Margo Abbatemarco, Lauren Barracca, 23 Emerald Estacio, Megan Fitzgerald, Jessica George, Melanie 24 Limanowski, Lisa Lutchen, Meghan McAvoy, and Allison Sues; 25 the head coach is Terry TerHaar and the assistant coaches are 26 Mandee Converse, Mark Gruca, and Nancy TerHaar; therefore, be 27 it 28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 29 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 30 we congratulate the Thunderbolts, the Victor J. Andrew High 31 School Girls Varsity Badminton Team from Tinley Park on -2- LRB9216906RHrh 1 winning their third consecutive IHSA State Badminton 2 Championship; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 4 presented to Terry TerHaar the head coach of the 5 Thunderbolts, assistant coaches, Mandee Converse, Mark Gruca, 6 and Nancy TerHaar and to each member of the Victor J. Andrew 7 High School Girls Varsity Badminton Team as an expression of 8 our esteem.
