1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Keith R. Sanders will retire as Executive
3 Director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education on May 31,
4 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives would like to
6 express its appreciation to Keith R. Sanders for an
7 extraordinarily dynamic and productive tenure as the Board's
8 Executive Director; and
9 WHEREAS, Keith has had a distinguished career spanning
10 four decades as a professor, dean, chancellor, and state
11 higher education executive in Wisconsin and Illinois; and
12 WHEREAS, Illinois has been fortunate to have a person of
13 Keith's talent and collaborative nature at the head of the
14 Illinois Board of Higher Education these last five years; and
15 WHEREAS, Under Keith's leadership, Illinois higher
16 education became the Number ONE and best system of higher
17 education in the nation; and
18 WHEREAS, Keith's knowledge, vision, and leadership in
19 guiding the Boards initiatives these past five years, have
20 produced an impressive roster of accomplishments; and
21 WHEREAS, Under Keith's leadership, the development of the
22 "The Illinois Commitment" has provided a guiding set of
23 principles that made Illinois higher education more
24 responsive to the needs of the State; and
25 WHEREAS, Keith Sanders' strong leadership in the area of
26 technology and the development of the Illinois Century
27 Network under his guidance will increase access to higher
28 education for students across Illinois; and
29 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives would like to
30 express its appreciation to Keith Sanders for his cooperative

1 leadership, wit, and intellect; therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 we acknowledge our deep appreciation, gratitude, and respect
5 for Keith R. Sanders on his record of accomplishment past and
6 present and we further congratulate him for his commitment to
7 Illinois students, his dedication to the Illinois system of
8 higher education, and for his outstanding leadership; and be
9 it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Dr. Keith R. Sanders.
