1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to recognize milestone dates in the
4 lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Abe Selman
6 will be stepping down from his duties as Village Manager of
7 Niles in April 2002; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Selman has been a Niles resident since 1962;
9 he served as a village trustee for 17 years until 1989, when
10 he resigned to become Village Manager; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Selman's excellent business acumen and
12 knowledge were honed from a career of 35 years at Natural Gas
13 Pipeline of America, where he started as office boy and
14 became Director of Research and Development; in addition, he
15 served as sub-committee chairman-Budget Committee of the
16 American Gas Association and as a member of the Planning
17 Executive Institute; and
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Selman is an active member of the Niles
19 community, serving as chairman of the Niles Youth Commission,
20 as co-chairman of the Niles Diamond Jubilee Committee, and as
21 a member of the Board of Directors and past president of
22 Chesterfield Garden Estates Homeowners Association; and
23 WHEREAS, Mr. Selman has enjoyed the opportunity to make a
24 contribution to the growth of Niles and the quality of life
25 in Niles; among his accomplishments include the construction
26 of new buildings such as Village Hall and the installation of
27 a new computer system and software; and
28 WHEREAS, Co-workers, friends, family, and members of the
29 Niles community will celebrate Village Manager Abe Selman's
30 career at his Retirement Celebration on May 1, 2002;

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we congratulate Abe Selman on his retirement as Village
4 Manager of Niles and we wish him well in all of his future
5 endeavors; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Abe Selman as an expression of our esteem.
