92_HR0803 LRB9216582RHrhA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to recognize milestone events in the 4 lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Virginia Rugai has been the alderman of 6 Chicago's 19th Ward for over 12 years serving on various 7 committees, including Energy, Environmental Protection, 8 Public Utilities (chairperson), Police and Fire 9 (vice-chairperson), Rules and Ethics, and Human Relations; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rugai is a survivor of breast cancer and is 12 the past president of the Y-ME National Breast Cancer 13 Organization; she was appointed to Mayor Richard M. Daley's 14 Task Force on Women's Health and the Cook County Women's 15 Commission; and 16 WHEREAS, For seven years, Mrs. Rugai served as the 17 Assistant Director of the Beverly Area Planning Commission; 18 she is also a board member of the Little Company of Mary 19 Hospital Foundation and Brother Rice High School and serves 20 on the St. Xavier University President's Advisory Council; 21 and 22 WHEREAS, On April 12, 2002 Virginia Rugai will receive 23 the Catherine McAuley Leadership Award in recognition of her 24 work and volunteerism, her commitment to society, and her 25 espousal of the charism and values of Catherine McAuley; 26 therefore, be it 27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 29 we congratulate Virginia A. Rugai on receiving the Catherine 30 McAuley Leadership Award; and be it further 31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be -2- LRB929216582RHrhA 1 presented to Virginia A. Rugai as an expression of our 2 esteem.
