92_HR0791 LRB9216555DJgc 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Lincoln Developmental Center (LDC) provides 3 valuable services to its clients, the developmentally 4 disabled, and the community; and 5 WHEREAS, The Department of Human Services and Governor 6 George H. Ryan have announced the downsizing of LDC; and 7 WHEREAS, Several Committee hearings have been held to 8 allow testimony by the Lincoln Parents Association, 9 advocates, and opponents of the downsizing of LDC; and 10 WHEREAS, On February 8, 2002, State Representatives Louis 11 I. Lang and James D. Brosnahan, on behalf of the Joint 12 Committee on Mental Health and Patient Abuse and the Disabled 13 Community Committee, submitted a letter and a set of 14 questions to the Department of Human Services; to date, the 15 Department has not responded to these questions; and 16 WHEREAS, Ultimately, the goal of Committee hearings and 17 the Joint Committee on Mental Health and Patient Abuse is to 18 protect the best interests of LDC clients and the community; 19 therefore, be it 20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 21 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 22 we encourage the Department of Human Services to provide 23 documents, testimony, and other information that is needed by 24 the Joint Committee on Mental Health and Patient Abuse to 25 fulfill its legislative duties in connection with the 26 downsizing of the Lincoln Developmental Center; and be it 27 further 28 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the 29 Secretary of Human Services.
