92_HR0729 LRB9216435RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to 4 the family and friends of Amanda C. Wright, who passed away 5 on March 4, 2002; and 6 WHEREAS, Amanda C. Wright was born on February 17, 1930 7 in East St. Louis, Illinois; she was the fourth of eight 8 children born to the union of John Wesley Smith and Wilmer 9 Robinson Smith; and 10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Wright was educated in the East St. Louis 11 Public School system, graduating from Lincoln Senior High 12 School in 1947; she also attended State Community College in 13 East St. Louis; and 14 WHEREAS, On January 1, 1950, Amanda C. Wright married the 15 late John Lenn Wright of East St. Louis; to this union, four 16 children were produced, Deborah Lynn, Denise Jovita, Wesley 17 Ed, and Daphne Jacquette; and 18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Wright accepted Christ at an early age; 19 although she never officially joined Pilgrim Temple C.M.E. 20 Church, she considered it her church home where she helped 21 support various church activities and programs for the past 22 40 years; and 23 WHEREAS, Mrs. Wright was employed by the United States 24 Postal Service and later went on to work as a Teacher's Aide 25 within East St. Louis School District 189's Project Follow 26 Through program; she retired from the district several years 27 ago as a Special Education Auxiliary Aide; and 28 WHEREAS, The passing of Amanda C. Wright will be deeply 29 felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her daughters, 30 Deborah Wright, Denise (Maurice) Donnan, and Daphne (Rozmond) 31 Dorsey; her son, Wesley (Kimberly) Wright; her grandchildren, -2- LRB9216435RHrh 1 Anson Donnan, Taylor Wright, and Alexander Dorsey; her 2 brother, Jordan (Evelyn) Smith; her sisters, Emma (Edward) 3 Oliver and Ora Smith; her sisters-in-law, Alvedia Smith and 4 Mabeline Wright Miller; her special cousins, June and Travis 5 Lane; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; 6 therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 8 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 9 we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death of Amanda C. 10 Wright of East St. Louis, Illinois; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to the family of Amanda C. Wright with our sincere 13 condolences.
