92_HR0722 LRB9216423RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, SHORE Community Services has promoted the 6 well-being of adults and children with developmental 7 disabilities for over fifty years; and 8 WHEREAS, Arthur and Joyce Buehler have served on the 9 Board of Directors of SHORE for over twenty of those years, 10 with Mr. Buehler serving as President of the Board for more 11 than ten years, and Mrs. Buehler long serving as a volunteer 12 manager of the Second Time Around Shop, the Agency's resale 13 shop; and 14 WHEREAS, Arthur Buehler has helped to organize and 15 promote participation in the Agency's annual golf outing, and 16 has spent many hours canning with the Knights of Columbus to 17 raise money for the Agency, affectionately earning the name 18 Mr. Tootsie for his time spent canning in a giant Tootsie 19 Roll costume; and 20 WHEREAS, Joyce Buehler has personally organized the 21 Agency's resale shop and recruited numerous volunteers to 22 keep the operation running for many years; and 23 WHEREAS, During the tenure of Mr. and Mrs. Buehler, SHORE 24 has developed and expanded many of the Agency's current 25 programs, such as the acquisition of SHORE Training Center, a 26 vocational program in Morton Grove; expansion of residential 27 services with the construction of SHORE Homes East in 28 Evanston and SHORE Homes West in Skokie; the implementation 29 of Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILAs) in 30 Evanston and Skokie; and the establishment of a permanent 31 central administrative office building in Skokie; and -2- LRB9216423RHrh 1 WHEREAS, SHORE is proud to honor Arthur and Joyce Buehler 2 with the 2002 Thomas and Lois Lloyd Humanitarian Award that 3 is named in honor of SHORE's founding family and is the 4 highest honor SHORE can bestow upon an individual who has 5 rendered outstanding service to the organization; therefore, 6 be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 8 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 9 we congratulate Arthur and Joyce Buehler for their dedication 10 to service in the name of adults and children with 11 developmental disabilities; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to Arthur and Joyce Buehler as an expression of our 14 esteem.
