92_HR0698 LRB9216216RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Pat McLaughlin was born in Litchfield, Illinois 3 and moved to Springfield from Champaign in 1961; and 4 WHEREAS, Pat entered the association management business 5 in 1972 and has been an honorable, hardworking, dedicated, 6 and loyal employee of the Illinois Movers and Warehousemen's 7 Association for the past 30 years, serving as their Executive 8 Director since 1989; and 9 WHEREAS, Pat served her association and the public by 10 helping to create the Illinois Movers and Warehousemen's Risk 11 Management Group (a self-funded workers' compensation pool) 12 and she still serves as its Executive Director; and 13 WHEREAS, Pat organized the Governmental Oversight 14 Information Network, a coalition to provide consumer 15 protection against fraudulent moving and storage practices; 16 and continues to serve as Executive Director of the Illinois 17 Movers Tariff Bureau; and 18 WHEREAS, Pat led her organization at the national level 19 in various capacities including three terms as chair of the 20 National Council of Moving Associations and three terms on 21 the Board of Directors of the National Moving and Storage 22 Association, and in 2000 became a member of the editorial 23 advisory board for MOVER Magazine; and 24 WHEREAS, Pat's peers in association management 25 acknowledged her leadership skills while serving from 26 1975-1980 as the Executive Director of the Illinois Society 27 of Association Executives (ISAE); serving on the ISAE Board 28 of Directors from 1981-1986, being elected ISAE President in 29 1986, and receiving the ISAE Distinguished Member award in 30 1991; and 31 WHEREAS, Pat is a registered lobbyist in Illinois, a -2- LRB9216216RHrh 1 member of the Illinois Commerce Commission's Household Goods 2 Advisory Committee, and in 1995-96, she served as President 3 of the Rotary Club of Springfield South; and 4 WHEREAS, Pat is a friend, a mentor, a creative problem 5 solver who demonstrates a deep enthusiasm and genuine caring 6 for the moving industry and faithfully exercises her 7 leadership responsibilities with the highest degree of 8 integrity and professionalism; therefore, be it 9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 10 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 11 we honor Pat McLaughlin for her dedication to the moving 12 industry for the past 30 years; and be it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to Pat McLaughlin as an expression of our esteem.
