92_HR0681 LRB9216166RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, This year Mary Kathleen McGuire Dunn marks her 3 thirtieth year of professional involvement with the 4 legislative processes of Illinois State government; and 5 WHEREAS, Kathleen first came to this chamber as a 6 representative of the Illinois Catholic Hospital Association 7 in 1973; and 8 WHEREAS, Kathleen was the first woman to serve as a State 9 agency legislative liaison when she represented the Illinois 10 Department of Public Aid from 1974 until 1977; and 11 WHEREAS, Kathleen continued to grace the floor of this 12 House of Representatives and the Senate as a representative 13 of the Illinois Department of Labor until 1986, when she 14 began her distinguished career with the Illinois Hospital 15 Association; and 16 WHEREAS, Kathleen, in this role contributes to our 17 understanding of the complex challenges facing the Illinois 18 health care system; and 19 WHEREAS, Kathleen is a product of the Illinois system of 20 higher education, earning a bachelor's degree from Illinois 21 State University at Normal and a master's degree in 22 Communications from Sangamon State University, and completed 23 graduate work at the University of Illinois at Urbana and 24 Oriel College at Oxford, England; and 25 WHEREAS, Kathleen continues to contribute to the 26 institutions of our State as a member of the Illinois Issues 27 Advisory Board, University of Illinois at Springfield Alumni 28 Advisory Board, and is a member of the American Society of 29 Association Executives, the Illinois Society of Association 30 Executives and Illinois Women in Government; and -2- LRB9216166RHrh 1 WHEREAS, Kathleen has over the last three decades served 2 as a positive role model for her colleagues in advocacy 3 through sensitive listening and communicating, understanding 4 the goals and contributing to their achievement and, most of 5 all, demonstrating respect for the legislative process and 6 for all who participate in the interest of Illinois citizens, 7 and 8 WHEREAS, Kathleen remains today the delight she was 9 thirty sessions ago when she approached legislators for the 10 first time on an issue of importance to the Catholic Hospital 11 Association, maintaining through all the years her good 12 humor, her calm and cordial nature and her sense of the value 13 of good friendships made along the way; therefore, be it 14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 15 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 16 we congratulate Kathleen Dunn on the occasion of her 17 thirtieth session as an advocate for positive policy to be 18 enacted in this legislative chamber, and further express our 19 best wishes for her continued professional achievements in 20 the future; and be it further 21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 22 presented to Mary Kathleen McGuire Dunn as an expression of 23 our esteem.
