92_HR0636 LRB9212758RHrhA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The highest award the National Council of the 3 Boy Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout is that of 4 Eagle Scout; and 5 WHEREAS, Phillip Pruitt of Carlyle, received the Eagle 6 Scout Award at a Court of Honor held on January 12, 2002; and 7 WHEREAS, Phillip is a senior at Central High School in 8 Breese, Illinois, where he is active on the Scholar Bowl Team 9 and a member of the National Honor Society; he is also a 10 member of the "Order of the Arrow" which is best described as 11 Scouting's National Honor Society; and 12 WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young 13 man must demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a 14 willingness to be of help to others, and superior skills in 15 camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and 16 WHEREAS, Phillip's Eagle Scout project was engaging his 17 troop in building a bird house for each of the grade schools 18 in Clinton County; he then met with each school to explain 19 the concept of the project and gave each school a book to 20 help identify the different types of birds that would visit 21 the bird house; Phillip plans to pursue a career in biology 22 and remain active in scouting in college; and 23 WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Phillip joins an 24 elite and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among 25 its members an extraordinary number of this nation's great 26 leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors 27 of society; and 28 WHEREAS, The achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout 29 reflects favorably upon the recipient, his justly proud 30 family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be 31 it -2- LRB9212758RHrhA 1 RESOLVED, BY HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we join his family and friends in congratulating Phillip 4 Pruitt upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and 5 commend him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that 6 is the hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to Eagle Scout Phillip Pruitt as an expression of 9 our respect and esteem.
