1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the Illinois
3 House of Representatives that Lincoln Christian Seminary in
4 Lincoln, Illinois is celebrating fifty years in the service
5 and education of the Lord; and
6 WHEREAS, Lincoln Christian Seminary was established as
7 the dream of founder Earl C. Hargrove, who worked hard to
8 make his dream a reality in 1952; and he raised funds to
9 construct an administration and library building in 1960, and
10 the graduate building, Restoration Hall, in 1966; and
11 WHEREAS, Lincoln Christian Seminary entered an era of
12 rapid growth, and has grown to more than 300 students; the
13 seminary is now directed by Tom Tanner, vice president of
14 academics; previous to Mr. Tanner's inauguration, Wayne Shaw
15 served as the seminary's academic dean for 26 years, and Enos
16 Dowling served for 22 years; the seminary graduated its
17 one-thousandth student in the year 2000; in addition, Lincoln
18 Christian Seminary has graduates serving the Lord in
19 thirty-eight countries and across the United States; and
20 WHEREAS, Lincoln Christian Seminary includes three degree
21 programs and is accredited by the Association of Theological
22 Schools in the United States and Canada and the North Central
23 Association of Colleges and Schools; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-
25 SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
26 congratulate Lincoln Christian Seminary on the celebration of
27 its 50th Anniversary and may it continue to educate and
28 provide guidance for the Lord for many years to come; and be
29 it further
30 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
31 presented to Keith Ray, president of Lincoln Christian

1 Seminary; to Tom Tanner, vice president of academics; and to
2 associate deans Robert Lowery and Paul Boatman as an
3 expression of our esteem.
