92_HR0584 LRB9211181RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The highest award the National Council of the 3 Boy Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout is that of 4 Eagle Scout; and 5 WHEREAS, John P. Powers of Troy, Illinois, received the 6 Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor held on December 2, 7 2001; and 8 WHEREAS, John, who is a senior at Triad High School in 9 Troy, has demonstrated clear and strong leadership among his 10 peers; his academic interests include electronics and in his 11 spare time he enjoys recreational basketball; and 12 WHEREAS, For his service project, John rebuilt the 13 horseshoe pits in Troy Park and added another two for 14 enthusiasts to enjoy; the project earned him praise from the 15 Park Board and those who benefited from his service; and 16 WHEREAS, In earning the high rank of Eagle Scout, John P. 17 Powers joins an elite and honorable fraternity of achievers 18 that counts among its members an extraordinary number of this 19 nation's great leaders in business, government, education, 20 and other sectors of society; and 21 WHEREAS, The achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout 22 reflects favorably upon the recipient, his justly proud 23 family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be 24 it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE OF THE 26 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 27 we join his family and friends in congratulating John P. 28 Powers of Troy, Illinois on attaining the coveted rank of 29 Eagle Scout and commend him upon the unswerving dedication to 30 excellence that is the hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it 31 further -2- LRB9211181RHrh 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to Eagle Scout John P.
