1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express our sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Walter James Triche, Sr., who
5 passed away on October 7, 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, Walter James Triche, Sr. was born on July 11,
7 1921 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Joseph and Carmen Triche;
8 he married Dove Howard on January 30, 1941; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Triche attended Carter Elementary School and
10 graduated from Englewood High School, where he was identified
11 as one who was most likely to succeed; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Triche was a diligent worker who never
13 seemed to tire while accomplishing his goals; he retired in
14 1992 from his duties as a probation officer; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Triche served his community for 33 years as
16 a precinct captain for the 8th Ward Regular Democratic
17 Organization; and
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Triche became a faithful member of the Power
19 Circle Congregation in 1997; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Triche enjoyed music, especially jazz, and
21 loved to dance; and
22 WHEREAS, The passing of Walter J. Triche, Sr. will be
23 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
24 wife of 60 years, Dove; his children, Sandra (husband, John)
25 Cooke, Jacqueline (husband, David) Atkins, Walter (wife,
26 Patricia) Triche, Jr., Maurice (wife, Shirley) Triche, Carmen
27 Kimberly, and Shana Triche; his grandchildren, Dowan, Ronald
28 (wife, Marjorie), and Chaunda Lynn Triche, John Jr. (wife,
29 April), Gregory, and Kristen Cooke, Sharif and Makeba Atkins,
30 Jihan, Yusef and Walter III Triche, and Kamila and Kayla

1 Triche; his great-grandchildren, Dowan, Jr., Tyra, Kendall,
2 Ronald III, David, Dawn, Keisha, and Akela Triche and
3 Gabrielle Cooke; his aunt, Etta Tyler; and a host of nieces,
4 nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Walter
8 James Triche, Sr. of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Walter James Triche, Sr. with our
11 sincere condolences.
