92_HR0554 LRB9211115RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Dr. Hugo C. 6 Avalos, who came to the Morris area 42 years ago to practice 7 medicine, is retiring from his duties at the Allen Medical 8 Center in Morris, Illinois on December 31, 2001; and 9 WHEREAS, Dr. Avalos came from a military family in Mexico 10 City, Mexico; before embarking on his medical career, Dr. 11 Avalos was a body builder and an actor appearing in movies; 12 and 13 WHEREAS, Dr. Avalos received his medical degree in family 14 practice and surgery from the University of Mexico in Mexico 15 City, Mexico and had a rotating internship at Little Company 16 of Mary Hospital in Chicago; he has attended medical seminars 17 in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East and is 18 board certified in English, Spanish, and German; and 19 WHEREAS, Dr. Avalos is a member of the American Medical 20 Association, the Illinois State Medical Society, the 21 Will-Grundy County Medical Society, and the Physicians 22 Organization of Morris Hospital; and 23 WHEREAS, Dr. Avalos's honors and affiliations include: 24 Director at Grundy County Bank in Morris since 1981; team 25 physician for Morris Community High School for more than 30 26 years; past president and member of the Board of Trustees of 27 Morris Hospital; past president of Rotary International in 28 Morris; Ship's Doctor and Officer for Epirotiki Lines; 29 Medical Director of Walnut Grove Retirement Center; the Union 30 League Club of Chicago; Morris Country Club; the Shriners; 31 and the Moose; and -2- LRB9211115RHrh 1 WHEREAS, Dr. Avalos's greatest joys are his wife, Mary, 2 his children, Diana (Michael) Dummitt, Karen (James) Tullman, 3 and Hugo Avalos, Jr., and his grandchildren, Nathan, 4 Stephanie, Joseph, John, William, and Christopher; and 5 WHEREAS, Dr. Avalos speaks fondly of his wedding day in 6 the early hours of the morning and battling the extreme heat 7 of the day in the jungles of Mexico; he also enjoys visiting 8 his children; therefore, be it 9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 10 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 11 we congratulate Dr. Hugo C. Avalos on his retirement and wish 12 him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to Dr. Hugo C. Avalos as an expression of our 15 esteem.
