1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The entire nation, including Illinois, is
3 experiencing an economic downturn; and
4 WHEREAS, As a result, fiscal stimulus directly to
5 consumers is necessary; and
6 WHEREAS, In recognition of this need for fiscal stimulus,
7 the United States Congress is debating the terms of a
8 $100,000,000,000 national stimulus package; therefore be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we urge the Illinois Senate and the Governor to join the
12 Illinois House of Representatives in enacting legislation
13 that would eliminate the State's share of use and occupation
14 taxes on all goods and services for a 6-month period to
15 re-stimulate consumer demand for these taxable goods and
16 services; and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That we urge the United States Congress to
18 enact a stimulus plan that includes a provision to forward
19 money to Illinois' General Revenue Fund sufficient to make up
20 the revenue lost by this tax cut; and be it further
21 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
22 presented to each member of the Illinois congressional
23 delegation.
