92_HR0464 LRB9209952RHrhA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to 4 the family and friends of Chicago Police Officer Eric Dwayne 5 Lee, who was killed in the line of duty on August 19, 2001; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, Eric Dwayne Lee was the oldest of four children 8 born to Bobby Lee and Anna Bates-Lee on October 11, 1963 in 9 Chicago, Illinois; and 10 WHEREAS, Eric Lee attended St. Carthage grammar school 11 where he was an honor student; he was a 1981 graduate of St. 12 Leo High School, where he received numerous awards and 13 recognition for both academics and athletics; after 14 graduation, he was accepted at the University of Illinois at 15 Chicago and recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Chicago 16 State University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in 17 criminal justice in preparation for further advancement 18 within the Chicago Police Department; and 19 WHEREAS, Eric Lee was a veteran of the United States 20 Marine Corps where he proudly served his country for four 21 years, earning the rank of Corporal; and 22 WHEREAS, Eric Lee joined the Chicago Police Department in 23 December 1991, where he served in the 2nd district as a 24 patrolman and the 7th district as a member of the 25 tactical/gang unit, "The Englewood Rangers"; and 26 WHEREAS, Eric Lee was a faithful member of Salem Baptist 27 Church; and 28 WHEREAS, The passing of Eric Dwayne Lee will be deeply 29 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 30 eight years, Shawn S. Tinnelle; his daughter, Erica; his 31 parents, Bobby and Anna Lee; his brothers, Mark (wife, -2- LRB9209952RHrhA 1 Isslee), and Steven (wife, Shanita); his sister, Michelle 2 (husband, Damien); his mother-in-law and father-in-law, 3 Jeanette and Joe Tinnelle; his niece, Isslee; his god 4 children, Rori Ann and Torrey Lee Nalls; his close friends, 5 Terance (wife, Robi Ann) Nalls; his aunts; his uncles; his 6 cousins; his friends; and his many colleagues and friends in 7 the Chicago Police Department, where his presence will be 8 dearly missed; and 9 WHEREAS, Eric Lee will be remembered as a loving son, 10 brother, husband, father, colleague, and friend who always 11 went beyond the call of duty at home, work, and in the 12 community; therefore, be it 13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 14 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 15 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Chicago 16 Police Officer, Eric Dwayne Lee; and be it further 17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 18 presented to the family of Eric Dwayne Lee with our sincere 19 condolences.
