92_HR0449 LRB9209332RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that at the 2001 6 Easter Seals Central Illinois' "Seal of Excellence" Dinner, 7 Kevin and Sue Breheny will be recognized for their 8 outstanding dedication and contributions to the Decatur and 9 Macon County communities; and 10 WHEREAS, Kevin Breheny has been employed with J. L. 11 Hubbard since 1978, where he started as an Account Executive; 12 he was promoted to Vice President in 1980, and has served as 13 President since 1981; and 14 WHEREAS, During the years, Kevin Breheny has been 15 recognized and awarded numerous times for his achievement and 16 drive to succeed; his recognitions and honors include the 17 City of Decatur Mayor's Recognition for Community Service 18 Award in 2000, the Sam Walton Business Leader Award in 1999, 19 the Business Quarterly Macon County Top Business Leaders 20 Award in 1998, the Orb Award in 1998, the Who's Who Among 21 Rising Young Americans in 1992, the Decatur Chamber of 22 Commerce Public Relations Award in 1991, the Young Insurance 23 Agent of the Year in Illinois in 1991, and the Decatur 24 Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award in 1990; 25 and 26 WHEREAS, Kevin and Sue Breheny have strengthened their 27 sense of ethic by giving back to the Decatur and Macon County 28 community as they strive to make a difference in the lives 29 its citizens; while they have both worked together in many of 30 their endeavors, Kevin Breheny alone has an extensive 31 background detailing his commitment and community service, 32 including service as chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of -2- LRB9209332RHrh 1 Decatur and Macon County, as chairman of the Quincy 2 University Foundation, as chairman of the St. Theresa High 3 School Foundation, as director of Junior Achievement, as 4 chairman of Millikin/Decatur Executive Association, as 5 president of the Decatur Celebration, as director/vice 6 chairman of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce in 1993 and from 7 1998 to 1999, as director of the Economic Development Corp. 8 of Decatur/Macon County, as director of the Country Club of 9 Decatur, as director of Quincy University, as director of the 10 Union Planters Bank's Central Illinois Advisory Board, as 11 director and vice president of the St. Theresa High School 12 Foundation Board, as director of the St. Mary's Hospital 13 Board, as chairman of the Richland Community College 14 Foundation Board, as chairman of Public Relations, 15 Membership, and Meeting Committees for the Associated General 16 Contractors of Illinois, and as president of the Decatur 17 Club; and 18 WHEREAS, Sue Breheny pursues a high level of community 19 involvement as well; she remains active in several community 20 organizations, and her involvement includes membership in the 21 Lifetime Junior Welfare Association from 1991 through 1997 22 and service as co-chair of the Futures Charity Golf 23 Tournament in 1994 and as a volunteer and parish council 24 member for Our Lady of Lourdes school and church; and 25 WHEREAS, In addition to their work in the community and 26 keeping busy with their three children, Megan, Michael, and 27 Molly, Kevin and Sue Breheny manage to maintain a social 28 life; currently, they serve as the Social Chairs for the 29 Country Club of Decatur and, in addition, pursue a high level 30 of activity with Our Lady of Lourdes Church that includes 31 serving as chairpersons of the second and third Our Lady of 32 Lourdes Family Fest, as chairpersons of the first annual Our 33 Lady of Lourdes Annual Giving Campaign, as chairpersons of -3- LRB9209332RHrh 1 the revival of the Catholic Charities Ball in 1997, as 2 current members of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the 3 Holy Sepulchre, and as present chairpersons for the 4 Springfield Diocesan Campaign for Bishop George Lucas; and 5 WHEREAS, Kevin and Sue Breheny are truly a remarkable 6 couple who have dedicated their lives to their family and 7 community; therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 9 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 10 we congratulate Kevin and Sue Breheny on being honored at the 11 2001 Easter Seals Central Illinois' "Seal of Excellence" 12 Tribute Dinner in recognition of their outstanding commitment 13 and contribution to the community; and be it further 14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 15 presented to Kevin and Sue Breheny as a sign of our esteem.
