1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestone events in the
4 lives of citizens of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Donnie Beechler recently participated in his
6 fourth Indianapolis 500 as a driver; and
7 WHEREAS, Donnie Beechler started his racing career in
8 1982, earning Rookie of the Year honors in the sprint car
9 division at the Springfield Speedway; and
10 WHEREAS, Donnie Beechler has 5 career U.S. Auto Club
11 Silver Bullet wins; and
12 WHEREAS, Donnie Beechler had the fifth fastest qualifying
13 time at this year's Indianapolis 500, registering a lap speed
14 of 224.449 miles per hour; he started the race in 27th place
15 and moved to 7th place before an oil fitting problem knocked
16 him out in the 147th lap; he returned to the race in the
17 151st lap and finished 25th; and
18 WHEREAS, Donnie Beechler finished a career-best sixth in
19 2000 Indy Racing Northern Light Series point standings and is
20 one of the 33 fastest drivers in the world; therefore be it
21 RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23 we congratulate Donnie Beechler on his racing career; and be
24 it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to Donnie Beechler as an expression of our esteem.
