92_HR0419 LRB9209093RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Tom Hynes will 6 be honored as Man of the Year at the 41st Installation Dinner 7 of the Mount Greenwood Civic Association on June 11, 2001; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, Tom Hynes has served as Cook County Assessor for 10 eighteen years, and as an Illinois State Senator for eight 11 years, the last two as Senate President; and 12 WHEREAS, As Cook County Assessor, Tom Hynes modernized 13 the office and served as a taxpayer advocate for homeowners; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, As an Illinois State Senator, Tom Hynes worked 16 hard for the community and responded to thousands of 17 constituent requests; he sponsored and was responsible for 18 the passage of the legislation that funded the reconstruction 19 program for the unimproved streets in Mt. Greenwood; he has 20 received numerous awards and commendations for his 21 legislative efforts on behalf of education and consumer 22 protection and for his legislative efforts to end red-lining; 23 he championed a package of tax relief bills, including the 24 Homeowners Exemption, which is considered to be the most 25 significant tax relief legislation ever to pass the State 26 Legislature; and 27 WHEREAS, In addition, Tom Hynes has served as a 28 Democratic Committeeman for the 19th Ward for over 25 years 29 and has played a leadership role in national, State and local 30 Democratic politics; in 1996, he was appointed by President 31 Clinton as Chairman of his Presidential campaign in the State -2- LRB9209093RHrh 1 of Illinois; he currently serves as a member of the Executive 2 Committee of the Democratic National Committee and is a 3 partner in the law firm of Quinlan & Crisham, Ltd.; and 4 WHEREAS, Tom Hynes is supported by his loving and very 5 proud family who include his wife, Judy, and their four 6 children; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 8 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 9 we congratulate Tom Hynes for his dedication and commitment 10 as Cook County Assessor and as an Illinois State Senator to 11 the citizens of Illinois and on being honored as Man of the 12 Year by the Mount Greenwood Civic Association; and be it 13 further 14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 15 presented to Tom Hynes as an expression of our esteem.
