1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to Maria
4 Cicero on an exceptional high school Cross Country and Track
5 and Field career; and
6 WHEREAS, Maria Cicero has won numerous awards in Class AA
7 Cross Country and Track and Field including, All State Honors
8 as well as Class AA State Championship Titles; and
9 WHEREAS, Maria broke an eighteen year old record in
10 Illinois for the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:17.28 on May
11 19, 2001; and
12 WHEREAS, Maria, on the same day, also won the 1,600
13 meters, becoming only the fourth Class AA runner to win both
14 the 3,200 meters and 1,600 meters State championships in the
15 same year; and
16 WHEREAS, Maria, in addition to being a member of last
17 year's Lady Dukes State Championship Class AA Track and Field
18 Team, also won the individual Class AA Cross Country Title on
19 November 4, 2000; and
20 WHEREAS, Maria's determination and pursuit of excellence
21 serve as an example for not only her fellow teammates, but
22 for the entire student body of York Community High School;
23 and
24 WHEREAS, Maria demonstrates what it means to be a true
25 student-athlete by achieving success not only on the playing
26 field, but also in the classroom; and
27 WHEREAS, We offer Maria our sincere best wishes as she
28 finishes her career at York Community High School and begins
29 her collegiate career; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we do hereby offer our congratulations to Maria Cicero on
3 concluding an amazing athletic career at York Community High
4 School; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to Maria Cicero.
