1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to memorialize citizens from the
4 State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Wayne A. Blakeney joined the Ridge Farm Lions
6 Club in 1946, six years after the club was formed; and
7 WHEREAS, Wayne A. Blakeney served as Ridge Farm Lions
8 Club's first Vice-President, as President, as director for
9 three years, and then as President again in 1995 and 1996;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, Wayne A. Blakeney owned several local
12 businesses, including the Hut Restaurant in the 1940s and the
13 Ridgeway Lanes bowling alley and restaurant from 1960 until
14 he retired in 2000; and
15 WHEREAS, Wayne Blakeney was generous to a fault; a great
16 majority of Ridge Farm's youth worked for him at one time or
17 another; and
18 WHEREAS, On August 18, 2001, the Ridge Farm Lions Club is
19 honoring the memory of Wayne A. Blakeney by naming the
20 community building the "Wayne A. Blakeney Community Center"
21 in honor of his distinguished service to the community of
22 Ridge Farm; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we join with the Ridge Farm Lions Club in honoring the memory
26 of Wayne A. Blakeney of Ridge Farm, Illinois for his
27 distinguished service to his community; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the family of Wayne A. Blakeney as an expression
30 of our esteem.
