1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Daniel J.
6 Jerbi is retiring from his duties as principal of Gardner
7 South Wilmington High School at the conclusion of the 2001
8 school year; and
9 WHEREAS, Daniel Joseph Jerbi was born on May 12, 1945, in
10 South Wilmington, Illinois, to J. Eba and M. Novi Jerbi; he
11 attended South-Wilmington Elementary School and Gardner-South
12 Wilmington High School; he received his bachelor's degree in
13 history and speech from Marquette University, and his
14 master's degree in educational administration from Illinois
15 State University; and
16 WHEREAS, After graduation, Mr. Jerbi returned to his
17 hometown of South Wilmington as a social studies teacher at
18 South Wilmington Elementary School from 1968 until 1971 and
19 as a social studies and speech teacher at Gardner-South
20 Wilmington High School from 1971 until 1985; from 1985
21 through 2001 he served as principal at Gardner-South
22 Wilmington High School; and
23 WHEREAS, Mr. Jerbi has been active in the Big Brother/Big
24 Sister program and has helped registered students to vote; he
25 has served as an IHSA basketball official since 1970 and as a
26 USSSA Softball Umpire since 1993; from 1995 through 1999, he
27 served as a United States Naval Academy Information Officer;
28 and he has been a member of the Illinois Principals
29 Association since 1985; and
30 WHEREAS, Daniel J. Jerbi is supported by his very proud
31 and loving family, all fellow Gardner-South Wilmington High

1 School graduates, which includes his wife, Evelyn, his sons,
2 Philip (wife, Kathy), and Matthew (wife, Kerenza); and
3 granddaughter, Alexandra Lynn Jerbi; and
4 WHEREAS, Daniel Jerbi is looking forward to life after
5 retirement where he will enjoy time with his family,
6 especially his new granddaughter, working in his yard, and
7 avoiding devices that clutter up the human mind such as
8 telephones, computers, and fax machines; he also plans to
9 work in a vocation that will give him the opportunity to help
10 others; therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13 we congratulate Daniel Joseph Jerbi on his retirement from
14 his duties as principal of Gardner-South Wilmington HIgh
15 School; and we wish him well in all of his future endeavors;
16 and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Daniel J. Jerbi as an expression of our esteem.
