1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE RESOLUTION 261
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Resolution 261, on page
3 1, line 18, after "401-25," by inserting the following:
4 "and having passed the Senate Finance Committee"; and
5 on page 2, line 7, after "plans;" by inserting the following:
6 "therefore, be it and
7 WHEREAS, it should be a goal of government to improve the
8 portability of pension plans between different employers; and
9 WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Retirement Security and
10 Pension Reform Act significantly enhances the portability of
11 pension plans, by allowing transfers between 401(k) and 457
12 plans and IRAs; and
13 WHEREAS, it should be a goal of government to help ensure
14 that every worker qualifies for a decent retirement pension;
15 and
16 WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Retirement Security and
17 Pension Reform Act takes significant strides towards
18 achieving this goal, through its provisions encouraging
19 employers to establish pension plans and its raising of
20 contribution limits; and
21 WHEREAS, some employers have, in recent years, deprived
22 employees of accrued pension benefits by shifting from
23 defined benefit plans to inferior, cash balance plans; and
24 WHEREAS, no worker should be deprived of accrued pension
25 benefits earned through years of employment; therefore, be
26 it".
