92_HR0254 LRB9208764RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jim Webb 6 retired from his duties as village president of Glencoe, 7 Illinois on April 19, 2001; and 8 WHEREAS, Jim Webb served the Village of Glencoe for eight 9 years as village president; and 10 WHEREAS, Under Jim Webb's leadership, he helped enact 11 tree preservation ordinance, a teenage smoking ban ordinance, 12 and zoning amendments resulting from a study of teardowns; 13 his other accomplishments included negotiating the Frontage 14 Road land deal; and 15 WHEREAS, Jim Webb fondly remembers the positive effect of 16 Glencoe's 125th Anniversary celebration in 1994 on its 17 residents; the celebration included a dinner dance at the 18 Botanic Garden, a visit from Anne Compton, an ABC news 19 correspondent who grew up in Glencoe, and a spectacular 20 ecumenical service held at North Shore Congregational Israel; 21 and 22 WHEREAS, In addition to his duties as village president, 23 Jim Webb also volunteered his service as a member of the 24 Glencoe District 35 School Board for the last seven years, on 25 the advisory caucus council, and on various New Trier 26 communities; and 27 WHEREAS, Jim Webb, who moved to the Glencoe in 1967, is 28 proud of how the village has remained committed to its system 29 of basic values for many years; the community remains 30 committed to continuing diversity, both racial and religious; 31 his ability to work with the village's residents has made his -2- LRB9208764RHrh 1 tenure as village president a memorable one; therefore, be it 2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 3 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 4 we congratulate Jim Webb on his retirement from his duties as 5 village president of Glencoe, Illinois, and we wish him well 6 in all of his future endeavors; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to Jim Webb as an expression of our esteem.
