92_HR0229 LRB9208702RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to 4 the family and friends of Mildred Reinke Dordal, who passed 5 away on April 7, 2001; and 6 WHEREAS, Mildred Reinke Dordal was born in 1928 in Oak 7 Park, Illinois; she graduated from Austin High School in 1946 8 and attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, from 1946 to 9 1948, and the University of Colorado from 1948 to 1949; she 10 graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in social 11 work from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and earned a 12 master's degree in social work from the University of Chicago 13 in 1953; and 14 WHEREAS, In 1949, Mrs. Dordal participated with 15 twenty-two other students from fourteen different countries 16 in a work camp at the Lutheran World Federation in Bavaria, 17 Germany; she utilized her social service skills by helping 18 people with disabilities and assisted in the construction of 19 a Lutheran church; Mrs. Dordal returned to Bavaria in 1999 to 20 join fifteen members of the same camp for the 50th 21 anniversary of the church's construction; and 22 WHEREAS, For more than thirty years, Mrs. Dordal worked 23 as a clinical social worker for Lutheran Social Services of 24 Illinois; after her retirement in 1994, she continued her 25 services as a counselor; she was also a former president and 26 board member of the Lutheran Campus Ministry of Metropolitan 27 Chicago; and 28 WHEREAS, Mrs. Dordal was an active member of Augustana 29 Lutheran Church since 1959, where she served on the church's 30 council; she also enjoyed the book club for women at the 31 Lutheran School of Theology; and -2- LRB9208702RHrh 1 WHEREAS, The passing of Mildred Reinke Dordal will be 2 deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her 3 husband, Erl Dordal; her sons, Peter Dordal and Andrew 4 Dordal; her daughters, Lisa Dordal and Kristin Poerschke; her 5 brother, George Reinke; and her seven grandchildren; 6 therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 8 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 9 we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death of Mildred 10 Reinke Dordal; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to the family of Mildred Reinke Dordal with our 13 sincere condolences.
