92_HR0225 LRB9208718ACcd 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to honor Chief Joseph M. 4 Mendrick, who is retiring as Chief of Police of the Oak Park 5 Police Department after 35 years of service; and 6 WHEREAS, Chief Mendrick began his career with the Oak 7 Park Police Department on July 31, 1967 as a patrolman and 8 moved up through the ranks to become Chief of Police on 9 October 29, 1990; he also served as a Military Police officer 10 in the United States Army; and 11 WHEREAS, Chief Mendrick received an associate's degree 12 from Triton College, a bachelor's degree in criminal justice 13 management from Aurora University, and a diploma in traffic 14 police administration from Northwestern University; he also 15 is a graduate of the 38th Session of the Federal Bureau of 16 Investigation Law Enforcement Executive Training Session in 17 Quantico, Virginia; and 18 WHEREAS, Chief Mendrick is a member of the Alpha Chi 19 National Honor Society, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of 20 Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, 21 the West Suburban Police Chiefs Association, and the Cook 22 County State's Attorney's Police Chiefs Advisory Council; and 23 WHEREAS, Chief Mendrick enjoys being involved in the 24 community; he has served as a Public Safety Committee staff 25 liaison, a Board of Fire and Police Commission entry level 26 selection team member, an E-911 Emergency Telephone System 27 board member, an Oak Park-River Forest I-Search advisory 28 board member, an Oak Park-River Forest Gang and Drug Task 29 Force member, an Avenue Lake May Madness Planning Committee 30 member, and Chairperson of the Operations Committee of the 31 West Suburban Consolidated Dispatch Center; therefore, be it -2- LRB9208718ACcd 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we congratulate Chief Joseph M. Mendrick for 35 years of 4 dedication and service to the Oak Park Police Department and 5 wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to Chief Joseph M. Mendrick with our sincere 8 regards.
