 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish to express their sincere condolences to
 4    the family and friends of Camillo Volini, who passed away  on
 5    March 1, 2001; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Volini  was  born  on Chicago's Near North
 7    Side, the son of the  late  Dr.  Italo  Volini,  one  of  the
 8    founders   of  the  Stritch  School  of  Medicine  at  Loyola
 9    University; he  attended  Quigley  Preparatory  Seminary  and
10    graduated  from  Loyola  University and Loyola Law School; he
11    worked on the staff of Poetry magazine from 1958 to  1960  as
12    an assistant editor and contributor; and

13        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Volini  began  his  legal  career  in  the
14    Chicago's  corporation  counsel  office in the late 1950s; in
15    1968, he was appointed special prosecutor in a case involving
16    demonstrators charged with  crimes  at  the  1968  Democratic
17    National Convention; and

18        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Volini  opened  a  private practice in the
19    Edgewater community during the 1980s; both he and  his  wife,
20    former Alderman of the 48th Ward, Marion Kennedy Volini, were
21    active in local politics; and

22        WHEREAS,  In  an effort to help his community, Mr. Volini
23    was active in federal  court  seeking  scattered-site  public
24    housing  throughout  the  city;  he  worked on cases aimed at
25    ridding the community of slum  landlords;  he  often  handled
26    cases  pro  bono  for  many  of the families in the Edgewater
27    community; and

28        WHEREAS, The passing of Camillo  Volini  will  be  deeply
29    felt  by  all  who  knew  and loved him, especially his wife,
30    Marion; his children, Michael  Volini,  Marion  Moore,  David
31    Volini,  Marcella  Landis,  and  Monica  Volini; and his nine

 1    grandchildren; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 3    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 4    we  mourn,  along with all who knew him, the death of Camillo
 5    Volini of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further

 6        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 7    presented  to  the  family of Camillo Volini with our sincere
 8    condolences.
