92_HR0163 LRB9208225RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to 4 the family and friends of Richard McVicker, who recently 5 passed away; and 6 WHEREAS, Richard McVicker was a retired captain with the 7 Chicago Fire Department who rescued four children from a 8 burning home more than thirty years ago; and 9 WHEREAS, Richard McVicker was born on September 29, 1931 10 in Chicago, Illinois; he was a veteran of the United State 11 Navy; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. McVicker retired from the Chicago Fire 13 Department last year after serving for more than 40 years as 14 a firefighter; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. McVicker received numerous awards during his 16 career which include the 1969 Chicago Firefighter of the 17 Year, where his valiant act of heroism not only saved the 18 lives of the four boys, it also created a hero that the boys 19 have looked up to, even to this day; and 20 WHEREAS, Mr. McVicker dedication and passion for his work 21 has inspired his three sons to work in the fields of police 22 and fire; and 23 WHEREAS, The passing of Richard McVicker will be deeply 24 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his loving 25 wife of 45 years, Arlene, his sons, Bob McVicker, Ed 26 McVicker, and Dan McVicker; his daughters, Laura Felton, 27 Linda Pressner, and Carol Willis; his 15 grandchildren; and 28 his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it 29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 30 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that -2- LRB9208225RHrh 1 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Richard 2 McVicker of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 4 presented to the family of Richard McVicker with our sincere 5 condolences.
