92_HR0160 LRB9208425RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Dr. Julian 6 Rogus will retire on June 30, 2001, after a successful career 7 of service in the field of public elementary and secondary 8 education; and 9 WHEREAS, Dr. Rogus graduated from Lane Technical High 10 School in 1960; he earned his bachelor's degree in 1964 and 11 his Master's Degree in 1970 from DePaul University in 12 Chicago; he earned his Doctorate Degree in 1987 from Northern 13 Illinois University; and 14 WHEREAS, Dr. Rogus has assumed many roles during his 15 career in education which include being a teacher, elementary 16 and junior high school principal, assistant superintendent 17 and superintendent; he has proudly served for the past 17 18 years as superintendent of Summit Hill District 161; and 19 WHEREAS, With his skilled leadership for educational 20 excellence, Dr. Rogus has been a significant factor in the 21 success and stability of District 161 through a period of 22 rapid growth and economic uncertainty; and 23 WHEREAS, Dr. Rogus has made significant accomplishments 24 during his tenure at District 161 which include: establishing 25 a successful referenda to build quality learning environments 26 for children; instituting aggressive developer impact fees to 27 offset the otherwise negative impact of negative growth; a 28 strategic fiscal planning to implement and sustain program 29 improvements; and he has brought a source of pride to the 30 District 161 schools and its community; and 31 WHEREAS, Dr. Rogus and his wife, Mary, live in the -2- LRB9208425RHrh 1 Frankfort area and have three children and two grandchildren; 2 therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we honor Dr. Julian Rogus for his many years of dedicated 6 service in the field of public elementary and secondary 7 education, and we wish him well in his retirement; and be it 8 further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to Dr. Julian Rogus as an expression of our esteem.
