1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Dante Ellis of Evanston, Illinois,
5 who passed away on February 21, 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, Dante Ellis was a freshman majoring in
7 electrical engineering at the University of Illinois at
8 Urbana-Champaign; he was a President's Award Scholar at the
9 University of Illinois; and
10 WHEREAS, Dante Ellis mentored African-American students
11 as a part of QUEST, a program designed to encourage young
12 people and help them prepare for success in high school and
13 college; and
14 WHEREAS, Dante Ellis was raised in Evanston, attended
15 North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka and Evanston
16 Township High School, where he graduated with honors; and
17 WHEREAS, Dante Ellis enjoyed tutoring, intramural sports,
18 and singing in his church choir; and
19 WHEREAS, The passing of Dante Ellis will be deeply felt
20 by all who knew and loved him, especially his father, James,
21 his mother, Janice; his sister, Jamese; and his grandparents,
22 Milton and Juanita Goff and Zuora Ellis; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of
26 Dante Ellis; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to the family of Dante Ellis.
