1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has a rich history of coal
3 mining and coal miners; and
4 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has an abundant supply of
5 coal lying beneath it's soil; and
6 WHEREAS, Our entire nation owes coal miners a great deal
7 more than we could ever repay; the difficult and dangerous
8 job that coal miners performed so that we could have the fuel
9 we needed to operate our industries and businesses and heat
10 our homes; and
11 WHEREAS, It is proper and fitting for the United States
12 to recognize our coal miners, both past and present, for
13 their contributions to this nation; therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16 we urge the United States Postal Service to issue a postage
17 stamp honoring coal mining and coal miners, commemorating
18 their contributions to our nation and its citizens; and be it
19 further
20 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
21 delivered to the Postmaster General of the United States
22 Postal Service, to the Speaker of the United States House of
23 Representatives, to the President of the United States
24 Senate, and to each member of the Illinois Congressional
25 delegation.
