92_HR0076 LRB9208040KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to commend the men and women of the Park 4 Forest Police Department for their hard work and dedication 5 to their community; and 6 WHEREAS, An early morning fire on January 4, 2001, could 7 have been tragic for former park district commissioner and 8 village commissioner John Booth and his wife, Maureen; as 9 police arrived on the scene they found Mr. Booth hanging 10 outside of a window, his wife trapped inside; and 11 WHEREAS, Through the quick response of Officers Peter 12 Morrissette, Harold Grimes, Tom Hall and Sergeant Mike 13 Murphy, the lives of both Mr. and Mrs. Booth were spared that 14 morning; and 15 WHEREAS, The officers helped Mr. Booth out of his dire 16 situation and then went to help Mrs. Booth; Officers Murphy 17 and Grimes, along with Officer Jose Flores, kicked in the 18 lower panels of the front door and dragged Mrs. Booth to 19 safety; and 20 WHEREAS, This devotion to the lives of others makes the 21 men and women of the Forest Park Police Department worthy of 22 honor; therefore, be it 23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 24 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 25 we congratulate the men and women of the Park Forest Police 26 Department for their hard work and devotion, especially in 27 saving the lives of Mr. and Mrs. John Booth; and be it 28 further 29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 30 presented to Police Chief Ed Pope.
