92_HR0046 LRB9207517RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to honor our former colleague 4 from the Tenth District in Chicago, the Honorable Coy Pugh; 5 and 6 WHEREAS, Coy Pugh, an ordained minister, was born on 7 February 27, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois; he received his 8 Bachelor of Arts degree in inner cities studies from 9 Northeastern Illinois University and his masters of theology 10 from the University of Chicago; and 11 WHEREAS, Former State Representative Coy Pugh served in 12 the Illinois House of Representatives with distinction; he 13 was first elected in 1992 and re-elected in 1994, 1996, and 14 1998; and 15 WHEREAS, While in the House of Representatives, Mr. Pugh 16 served as the Chairman of the Revenue Committee, and served 17 on the Appropriations-Public Safety Committee, the Human 18 Services Committee, the Personnel and Pensions Committee, the 19 Special Committee on Tobacco Settlement Proceeds 20 Distribution, and the Joint Committee on Administrative 21 Rules; and 22 WHEREAS, Mr. Pugh's legislative priorities included 23 fighting crime, bringing businesses and jobs to the poor and 24 neglected areas, protecting minority rights, and working to 25 teach our children to work hard and live with good moral 26 standards; in 1996, he successfully stopped chain gangs from 27 being instituted in Illinois; and 28 WHEREAS, Coy Pugh, as a member of the Illinois House of 29 Representatives compiled a legislative record that the 30 citizens of the Tenth District and all of Illinois can be 31 proud of; therefore, be it -2- LRB9207517RHrh 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we thank Former State Representative Coy Pugh for his hard 4 work and dedication to the people of the State of Illinois, 5 and wish our former colleague, his wife Addie and their three 6 children, success and happiness in the future; and be it 7 further 8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 9 presented to Former State Representative Coy Pugh along with 10 our sincere regards.
