92_HR0006 LRB922826RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize significant 4 milestones in the history of the communities of the State of 5 Illinois; and 6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the City of 7 Prospect Heights will be celebrating its 25th anniversary on 8 January 31, 2001; and 9 WHEREAS, For the past 25 years; Prospect Heights has made 10 several changes from a small rural community to a community 11 that boasts excellent schools, police and fire services, and 12 a community spirit that is second to none; and 13 WHEREAS, The community of Prospect Heights was 14 established in the 1930's when two developers, Carlton Smith 15 and Allen Dawson, purchased land around the intersection of 16 Camp McDonald and Elmhurst Roads; and 17 WHEREAS, Due to booming development in the adjacent 18 communities, the City of Prospect Heights was incorporated on 19 January 31, 1976, exactly 40 years after the first family 20 moved into the community; and 21 WHEREAS, Today, the City of Prospect Heights is prized 22 for its central location while maintaining its rural feel; 23 this is accomplished by having homes on large lots and the 24 helping attitude of its neighbors; and 25 WHEREAS, The City of Prospect Heights' proud 26 accomplishments include: joint ownership of Palwaukee 27 Airport, which is the third busiest airport in Illinois, two 28 park districts, award winning schools, and government 29 services that work with the residents; the city has growing 30 corridors along Rand Road and Milwaukee Avenue which host 31 numerous businesses which include hotels, restaurants and -2- LRB922826RHrh 1 shopping centers; and 2 WHEREAS, New improvements to the City of Prospect Heights 3 symbolize the forward progress the city is making which 4 include the construction of a new train station; a bike and 5 walking path from Lake Arlington to the train station, and a 6 large decorative clock that stands in front of the police 7 station; and 8 WHEREAS, The future for the City of Prospect Heights 9 remains bright; the desire for future economic development 10 and growth while retaining the rural feeling of community is 11 a major goal that the City of Prospect Heights would like to 12 further continue, as it has successfully accomplished for the 13 past 25 years; therefore, be it 14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 15 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 16 we congratulate the City of Prospect Heights on the 17 celebration of its 25th anniversary; and be it further 18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 19 presented to Prospect Heights Mayor Edward P. Rotchford as an 20 expression of our esteem.
