92_HR0005 LRB9202828KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bill Bounds, 4 30-year President of Teamsters Local #26, for his hard work 5 and dedication to working men and women; and 6 WHEREAS, On December 31, 2000 Bill Bounds spent his last 7 official day in office; he has served as President of Local 8 26 since 1971; his office represented fourteen counties and 9 had offices in Bloomington, Champaign, Danville, and Rantoul; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, Bill Bounds served as the President of the 12 Illinois Conference of Teamsters and Joint Council 65 from 13 1975 to 1985; he was appointed first Co-chairman of the Labor 14 Committee formed by Governor Jim Thompson, serving for 15 fourteen years; and 16 WHEREAS, Before serving as President of Local #26, Bill 17 Bounds served as Business Representative and then as Union 18 Organizer from 1959 to 1969, where he worked directly for 19 Jimmy Hoffa, Sr.; and 20 WHEREAS, Bill Bounds is a member of ESDA, the I-74 21 Corridor Study Group, the Vermilion County Animal Foundation, 22 the Danville Economic Development Committee, and is a charter 23 member of the Labor Management Council, where he also serves 24 as co-chairman; he serves on the National Construction Policy 25 Committee, the National Freight Negotiation Committee, and 26 the Public Employees Policy Committee, various committees of 27 the International Brotherhood of Teamsters; and he has been 28 elected for the past three years to serve as the Chairman of 29 the Vermilion County Airport Authority, and presently serves 30 as Commissioner; therefore, be it 31 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE -2- LRB9202828KBkb 1 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 2 we thank Bill Bounds for a job well done and wish him nothing 3 but the best in his future endeavors; and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 5 presented to Bill Bounds, along with our sincere regards.
