1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the General Assembly wish to
3 honor Len Bertolini on his 36-year career as the basketball
4 coach of St. Ferdinand Parish; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Bertolini was born in Northern Italy and
6 moved to America when he was 9 years of age; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Bertolini attended King Grammar School and
8 St. Philips High School where, during his senior year in
9 1958, he was St. Philip's Athlete of the Year; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Bertolini began coaching the St. Ferdinand's
11 basketball team in 1966; and
12 WHEREAS, In addition to coaching basketball, Mr.
13 Bertolini started an intramural boys basketball program and a
14 girls basketball program; Mr. Bertolini also coached St.
15 Ferdinand's football team for 4 years; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Bertolini also started boys soccer,
17 baseball, volleyball, and cross country programs and girls
18 volleyball and softball programs at St. Ferdinand's; and
19 WHEREAS, Mr. Bertolini has been the Athletic Director at
20 St. Ferdinand's since 1971; and
21 WHEREAS, Mr. Bertolini has won many championships in
22 basketball in various leagues, including the Metro League,
23 the Classic League, the Northwest Catholic Conference, and
24 the Northwest Parish League; and
25 WHEREAS, Mr. Bertolini has been selected the District
26 Coach of the Year 3 times; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
29 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we honor Len Bertolini on his

2 Parish; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
4 Len Bertolini.
