92_HB6049 LRB9214274DJgc 1 AN ACT in relation to health. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act is 5 amended by adding Section 16.10 as follows: 6 (410 ILCS 620/16.10 new) 7 Sec. 16.10. Prescription drug directions; aged or 8 impaired person. Upon the request of a person who is 60 years 9 of age or older or who is blind or otherwise visually 10 impaired, when a person dispenses a drug by filling or 11 refilling a written or oral prescription of a practitioner 12 licensed by law to administer the drug, the person must affix 13 to the drug container a label stating the directions for the 14 drug's use in a print size that allows no more than 10 15 characters per inch. In addition, the person dispensing the 16 drug must orally explain the directions for the drug's use to 17 the person to whom the drug is dispensed. 18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 19 becoming law.
