92_HB5594 LRB9213757RCsb 1 AN ACT in relation to criminal law. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Marks and Serial Numbers Act is amended 5 by changing the title of the Act and amending Section 1 as 6 follows: 7 (720 ILCS 335/Act title) 8 An Act to prohibit concealing, changing or destroying 9 manufacturers' serial numbers or identification marks upon 10 machines and articles of merchandise other than motor 11 vehicles or firearms. 12 (720 ILCS 335/1) (from Ch. 121 1/2, par. 157.13) 13 Sec. 1. Any person who removes, alters, defaces, covers 14 or destroys the manufacturers' serial number or any other 15 manufacturers' number or distinguishing identification mark 16 upon any machine or other article of merchandise, other than 17 a motor vehicle as defined in Section 1-146 of the Illinois 18 Vehicle Code or a firearm as defined in Section 1.1 of the 19 Firearm Owners Identification Card Act, for the purpose of 20 concealing or destroying the identity of such machine or 21 other article of merchandise isshall beguilty of a Class B 22 misdemeanor. 23 (Source: P.A. 78-255.)
